Whilst there have been a number of excellent individual performances from his troops in this season’s 4 Day Series, World Sports Betting Cape Cobras coach Ashwell Prince is looking for an overall team effort as they go in search of their first win of the campaign when they take on the Multiply Titans at Newlands on Monday.

“We’re six games into the competition and we haven’t won one yet. We’ve been close on a few occasions and we’ve obviously lost two games, but this is a great opportunity for the guys to pull together and get our first win for this competition,” said Prince.

“We’ve fallen short a couple of times, with running out of time and weather not being on our side but I think all in all it’s been pretty disappointing season so far in the 4 Day Series. We’ve got a great record in it over the last few years, we’ve been very close to winning it. We’ve now got four games left and we need to finish as strong as possible, starting with tomorrow’s game against the Titans,” he added.

Fast bowler Dane Paterson has remained with the Test squad for the Third Test against England in Port Elizabeth and will be hoping to make his Test debut and Prince is pleased to see his players being rewarded with higher honours and is calling on his other squad members to take their opportunities.

“We are really excited about Pato, Zuby and Pieter stepping up into the Test squad which gives the likes of Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams, who often miss out on selection, an opportunity.”

World Sports Betting Cape Cobras all-rounder, George Linde, is the leading wicket-taker in the competition, with 26 wickets to his name, including two 10-wicket match hauls and Prince will be looking to the left arm spinner to add to that tally against the Titans.

“We’ve played on two pitches that offered the spinners some purchase and George has made the most of those opportunities which resulted in a Test call-up and he’s recorded another 10-wicket match haul since then in the previous match against the Dolphins. It’s another one of our guys who is pushing for higher honours, which is very pleasing. Our guys are doing well individually but we need to pull it together as a team effort now,” Prince concluded.

The match starts at 10h00 at Newlands and entrance is free.
