Tshepo Moreki was lured to the Cape Cobras from his old stomping ground at Kingsmead in 2015.
The young bowler is a former South African u.19-player and a skilful operator capable of swinging and seaming the ball consistently at medium-fast pace.
When the South African national Academy toured Sri Lanka in July and August 2015, Moreki underlined his skill and quality.
He captured 12 wickets in the four-day matches against the Sri Lankan Emerging team and finished at the summit of the bowling averages. His best innings-haul was four for 30.
The 22-year old was equally as impressive in the one-day series. He nipped out five for 19 in one game, and took 11 wickets in three matches to top the bowling averages.
The Cape Cobras selectors acknowledged his progress by picking him for all five Momentum One Day Cup matches in the first round of 2015/2016.
Moreki took five wickets and impressed in the second one-day cup match against The Unlimited Titans at PPC Newlands as he removed the dangerous Theunis de Bruyn early on with a delivery that swung and bounced.
Born in Empangeni, Moreki learned his cricket trade at Northwood High School.
His best first-class haul was three for 30 for KwaZulu-Natal against Easterns in 2012/2013.
