Keegan Petersen is a slightly built right-hand batsman with a silky touch and an ability to compile big innings once he is settled in.
A former Boland u.19-player who hails from Paarl, Petersen was named as Cricket South Africa (CSA) Provincial Three-day cricketer of the year in 2014.
In a prolific 2013-2014-season, Petersen scored 965 runs at an average of 48.25 in 13 matches. He finished as the leading run-scorer in the CSA Three-day competition.
Petersen went past fifty six times, and recorded four centuries, a testimony to his excellent conversion-rate. His biggest contribution was an unbeaten 225, which was also the highest individual total by any batsmen during the competition in 2013/2014.
Another feature of his play was his superb strike-rate of 59.38 in scoring those 965 runs for Boland.
Petersen also scored four centuries for Boland during the 2013/2014-season.
His insatiable hunger for runs and powers of concentration has become part and parcel of Petersen’s play for Boland.
Following his achievements for Boland the acknowledgement of his feats with the Cricket South Africa-awards, he was contracted by the Nashua Cape Cobras for the 2014/2015-season.
Petersen has showed glimpses of his ability, and hit 47 in a Sunfoil Series match against the bizhub Higheld Lions.
The diminutive batsman was not at his best for Boland in the Sunfoil Three-Day Cup, making 355 runs at an average of 23.66 and a best score of 142.
In the build-up to the 2015/2016-season, he compiled a stylish century against the bizhub Highveld Lions.
He was also prolific for Boland in their first few Sunfoil Three Day Cup matches by averaging 88.66 to earn a call-up for the opening match of the Sunfoil Series against the VKB Knights.
